From 12 February to Sunday 13 March 2016. The event began to be celebrated as far back as 1934 on the proposal of Count Dr. Alfonso Gaetani. Today, the Sagra del Mandorlo in Fiore presents itself periodically with the aim of enhancing the Agrigento spring. In fact, it provides a valid means of launching and marketing some typical Sicilian products from Agrigento.

The almond tree: one of the most suggestive trees

The almond tree in bloom is one of the most suggestive trees for the Mediterranean scrub. In its spring period, every year, the valley is covered with a wonderful flowery mantle of almond trees. It is the backdrop for this important and unique event, which boasts the participation of various groups that characterize the Sicilian folklore and that also come from various parts of the world. The city entertains guests by dancing together to the notes of their traditional melodies.

The event opens with the lighting of the friendship tripod right in front of the temple of Concordia. Then it ends with the performance of the groups in the valley and the attribution of the coveted golden temple, a trophy depicting the temple of Castor and Pollux. The Festival is divided into a series of performances by folk groups in the city streets and at the Pirandello theater, evening folklore torchlight procession, Folk music and tastings of typical Sicilian products and wines.
